Health Programs

We have a number of programs that are available to the families and staff.

Mental Health consultation is available to parents.  Department of Health funded services are available on site from Meghan Spyker,PhD.

The Department of Health has assigned nurse Elinita Silva to work with staff and families at Friends of St. Francis. She consults as needed and regularly provides inservice training on a range of health related topics.  Additionally , she arranges our vision, hearing and dental screenings for all three and four year old children.

Each fall, our consulting occupational therapist Julia Harris carries out gross and fine motor screenings for the preschool aged children.  Teachers are then guided by her to adapt activities which strengthen their skills in these areas.  Parents are informed of their child's  development and, when needed, further assessments and referrals are arranged. A parent education program includes an annual presentation by Julia Harris, OTR on Playing to Learn: Brain Development.
